AOP community movement lab
The Anatomy of Pilates Movement Lab where theory meets the studio.
The Anatomy of Pilates Movement Lab is a virtual class designed for Pilates instructors who want to go beyond memorizing exercises and start understanding why movement works the way it does. Grounded in biomechanics, anatomy, and exercise science, this lab bridges the gap between textbook concepts and the realities of working with diverse, unpredictable human bodies.
Inside the lab, we take complex ideas like load management, joint mechanics, muscle function, and movement variability, and apply them directly to Pilates programming and coaching. You’ll explore how bodies adapt to different demands, how to modify exercises in real time, and how to move away from rigid rules toward more flexible, evidence-informed decision making.
This is not about perfect choreography or idealized alignment. It’s a space to ask better questions, test ideas, and experiment with movement. Expect collaborative problem-solving, creative exploration, and a willingness to challenge assumptions all grounded in current research and practical application.
Why join monthly ($60) instead of dropping in ($20)?
A single class gives you a snapshot. The monthly membership builds a system.
With the $60/month option, you’re not just attending, you’re developing a deeper, more integrated understanding over time. You get:
-
Full access to archived recordings so you can revisit complex topics, reinforce learning, and connect concepts across sessions
-
Supplemental materials that break down key ideas, giving you tools you can immediately apply in your teaching
-
Continuity and progression, allowing you to see how concepts evolve and layer rather than starting from scratch each time
-
Space to refine your thinking, test ideas in your own practice, and return with better questions
Learning anatomy and biomechanics isn’t about one-off insights, it’s about pattern recognition, repetition, and application across contexts. The monthly option supports that process.
The drop-in is useful if you’re curious. The membership is where real skill development happens.
